Frankfurt am Main
Post-Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d)
Aufgaben:
The position is to be filled at the Department of Hematology / Oncology of the University Hospital Frankfurt at the earliest possible date. The Department of Hematology / Oncology of the University Hospital Frankfurt offers a broad diagnostic and therapeutic spectrum for patients with solid tumors, as well as malignant diseases of the hematopoietic system. The research group of Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Oellerich is studying oncogenic signal transduction mechanisms, tumor viability regulators, as well as therapy resistance mechanisms to innovative therapies with a main focus on acute myeloid leukemia and aggressive lymphomas (see for example Phelan, Scheich et al., Cancer Cell (2024), Jayavelu, Wolf, Buettner et al., Cancer Cell (2022), Mohr et al., Cancer Cell (2017), Schneider, Oellerich et al., Nature Medicine (2017), Phelan et al., Nature (2018)). In terms of technologies, the Oellerich lab uses innovative proteogenomic approaches to elucidate cancer biology. The research group is associated with the Frankfurt Cancer Institute ( https://fci.health/ ) and the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research ( https://dktk.dkfz.de/de/home ), as well as the excellent research infrastructure of the University Hospital Frankfurt and the Georg-Speyer-Haus. Moreover, the lab has close collaborations with Bioinformatics groups on campus and a strategic partnership with leading research institutions such as the NIH (National Institutes of Health) or the Dana-Farber Cancer Center. The post-doctoral research position is funded by the German Cancer Aid (Deutsche Krebshilfe) to elucidate proteogenomic mechanism of oncogenesis and therapy resistance in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The project will focus on the functional characterization of oncogenic mechanisms in acute leukemia by application of proteogenomic approaches in order to identify new therapeutic vulnerabilities that can be targeted by innovative drugs. To answer our scientific questions we are applying the following experimental techniques (among others): Innovative CRISPR-Cas9 screening technologies, quantitative (phospho-)proteomic analyses, NGS, FACS analysis and cell sorting, innovative imaging technologies (e.g. PLAs and high resolution microscopy), mouse experiments. Independently design scientific projects, plan, establish, and analyze in vitro as well as in vivo experiments Write manuscripts and grants Presentation of scientific data at national and international conferences Train and instruct scientific employees (technical assistants, MD and PhD doctoral candidates) allocated to the project
Qualifikationen:
The applicant should hold a PhD degree in biology, molecular medicine or a related life science, ideally in cancer research. Fundamental theoretical and practical expertise in molecular biology (e.g. cloning, PCR) and protein biochemical techniques-experimental as well as in cell culture (e.g. production of virus particles for genomic modifications) techniques. Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals are expected. A high level of motivation and interest in answering scientific questions in an interdisciplinary academic cancer research setting. Flexibility and responsibility, as well as very good communications skills in German or English Experience with high-throughput-screening analyses (e.g. RNAseq., NGS) and in vivo mouse experiments (FELASA B or C certificate) is an advantage. Motivation to learn, apply and establish new techniques, ability to critically analyze and refect data. Very good computational skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, Adobe Illustrator, data analysis with R or python is an advantage). Due to legal regulations, valid proof of measles immunity / measles vaccination is required.
