Scientist (m/f/div) or Engineer (m/f/div) in Genomics
to work in a state-of-the-art genomics, transcriptomics, and cell sorting service group providing its service to several Max Planck Institutes. The successful applicant is expected to implement new pipelines and protocols in next generation sequencing (NGS) using long- and short-read technologies (Pacific Biosciences, Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Illumina) and to expand the method repertoire for low-input and single-cell applications. The applicant is expected to have strong communication skills and to be team oriented. We are looking for a candidate with wet lab experience and an enhanced interest in robotics and automation. Additional bioinformatic skills in e.g. high-throughput data analysis are a plus but not a prerequisite.
We offer a state-of-the-art scientific environment with the opportunity to develop and deepen skills in genomics and transcriptomics. We expect from the successful applicant to contribute innovative non-standard solutions to genomics- and transcriptomics-related questions.
Fluent written and spoken communication in English is essential, and German would be advantageous.
We seek for a creative, flexible, and highly motivated candidate with a PhD in the life sciences or a biotechnologist with already existing initial experience in genomics. Prior experience in working in a sequencing facility or another high-throughput service centre would be advantageous. The position is initially available for two years with a possibility of extension and with an approximate starting date of June 2023. Payment and benefits are according to German TVöD.
